You'd have to be on a different planet to be out of range of one these puppies.
or in new zealand. we are far enough away from everything else ot be pretty safe, at least untill the ash blocks out the sun ______________________________________________

Pretty sure there are some super-volcanos in your area. Or atleast some "OMG WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!" type normal ones.
Antarctica. That is where you want to be. Aside from the occasional Penguin attack, never any real disasters there.
nah, they are pretty much all dormant and pose no rick to us whatsoever. dont even have any magma in them

Not quite, when those babies go they have a tendency to set off massive earthquakes as the ground settles into the now empty(or nearly so) caldera. The Pacific quake the set off the Tsunami back in '04(?) bounced around the world several times and it would probably be a few orders of magnitude less than a supper volcano. In other words it would be xx.x, about 100x more powerful as the scale is every 1.0 is 10x as powerful
/geek
your forgetting the quake and resultign tsunami from a couple of weeks ago.
but seriously, despite there being a major fault line running through nz, its pretty harmless these days as this section of it is rather stable. the quakes it generates these days are really small and our only citry in any real danger from it woudl be the capital, wellington. not that we care, cause thats where all the polititions are ______________________________________________

Although we've got our fair share of geothermal death machines. Auckland's built on top of 50+ volcanic vents FFS.
yeha, but when was the last time any of those actually showed any sign of activity? ______________________________________________

About 600 years ago, though as my geology professor loved to remind us, the zone as a whole is still considered active and a new eruption could happen at any time.
Linkage
Next vent is likely to break through on the seaward side of Rangitoto though, if the previous trend continues.
damnit, im trying to make us look good so more people will visit.
also: nz is about the safest place on the planet if the nukes get launched, face it, whose gonna waste a nuke on us? and baring our own "volcanoes" blowing up, we should be safe from that too. we will probably kill ourselves on the road before anything else gets a chance to wipe us out ______________________________________________
